A fitting mountain for my 50th hike. It’s a tough ascent! Very steep, muddy and slippery.
After the joy of summiting, some of us (including me), got lost on our way down. We couldn’t find our bearings. It was dark, foggy and raining hailstones.
Our local guide miraculously found us hours later way off-trail. We waited out the rain in a shed then caught up with the rest of the group who were stuck at a swollen river crossing. We were warmly sheltered at a home nearby to wait till it was safe to cross the river. Early next morning, we crossed and headed back to camp.
Total time spent on the mountain: 22 hours.
Quite a memorable hike!
