This was an interesting trip. We summited Mount Kenya’s 3rd highest peak, Lenana Peak, during acclimatization day. The plan on day 3 (acclimatization day) at Shipton’s camp 4,200m, was to go for a brief hike in the morning and then return back to camp. Halfway through our acclimatizing hike, we decided to push for the summit as it was a clear sunny day though we didn’t have our summit gear. Fortunately our lead guide was cool with our plan and called for some porters to bring us our down jackets from camp in case the weather changed. We all happily summited Lenana Peak mid-afternoon.
